Description
A.B.V.: 13.5%
Location/Production
- Klapmuts, South Africa
- PRODUCTION: Barrel Ageing 9 months (300L French oak barrels) Alcohol 13.5% by volume Residual Sugar
2.1 g/l Total Acid 5.6 g/l pH 3.46 - VINIFICATION: Viognier is a single block vineyard situated on the mid-section of our farm on a North slope
where the soil is a unique combination of Sandstone and Granite. Viognier is quite unique with berries shriveling
towards full ripeness. Sampling and tasting fruit during ripening is of utmost importance to end up with a
balance between fruit, alcohol and structure. The grapes are hand-picked and whole bunched pressed in late
February. The juice then settles in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place in 300L barrels with a percentage in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged on the lees for a few months and the components blended before
bottling.
Color, Nose & Palate
- Arra Viognier shows intense aromas of white flowers, ripe fleshy peaches, apricots and pineapple followed through on the palate. Delicate notes of spice and minerality ending with a perfectly balanced acidity.
